Mahindra to Unveil New SUV Platform on August 15, 2025

Mahindra to Unveil All-New SUV Platform on Independence Day

Continuing its tradition of major announcements on Independence Day, Mahindra & Mahindra is set to reveal an all-new vehicle platform on August 15, 2025. This new architecture will be developed at Mahindra’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Chakan. While detailed specifications remain under wraps, industry speculation suggests the platform could be the New Flexible Architecture (NFA), with an annual production target of 1.2 lakh units.

The next-generation Mahindra Bolero and its electric counterpart, the Bolero EV, are expected to be the first models built on the NFA platform. Designed to accommodate internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, and fully electric powertrains, the platform is poised to serve as the foundation for a wide range of future Mahindra SUVs. Further details will be revealed during the official unveiling event.

12 New Mahindra SUVs by 2030

As part of its long-term strategy to bolster market share, Mahindra plans to introduce 12 new SUVs by 2030. The upcoming lineup will consist of seven models powered by internal combustion engines and five battery electric vehicles. In addition, the company will roll out five new Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs). Mahindra has previously announced its intention to gradually electrify its existing ICE product range, including popular models such as the Bolero, Scorpio, and Thar.

Notably, the Thar.e electric concept—first showcased on August 15, 2023—was built on a modified version of Mahindra’s INGLO skateboard platform. The concept featured a dual-motor setup, producing 109 bhp/135 Nm at the front and 286 bhp/535 Nm at the rear, enabling an all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration.

Upcoming Mahindra SUVs in 2025–2026

In the near term, Mahindra is preparing to launch two new electric SUVs: the XUV 3XO and the born-electric XEV 7e. These models will compete directly with rivals such as the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Tata Safari EV. Looking ahead to 2026, updated versions of the XUV700 and the 3-door Thar are scheduled for release. While these updates will focus primarily on design and interior enhancements, no major mechanical changes are anticipated.
