Ather Launches Battery-as-a-Service; Rizta Price Now Starts at ₹75,999

Ather Energy has introduced its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model for electric scooters, significantly reducing the upfront cost of its popular models. With this new pricing, the Ather Rizta starts at ₹75,999 and the Ather 450 Series at ₹84,341 (ex-showroom, Lucknow).

How Battery-as-a-Service Works

Under the BaaS plan, customers pay only for the scooter shell upfront and subscribe to a monthly battery usage plan.

  • Plans start at ₹1 per km.
  • Pricing is based on a 48-month package with a minimum usage of 1,000 km per month.
  • Includes 1 year of free fast charging at Ather’s 3,300+ public charging points.

This approach lowers the entry price, making Ather scooters more accessible to EV buyers who want flexibility.

Expanded Assured Buyback Program

Ather has widened its Assured Buyback programme, now offering:

  • Up to 60% of the scooter’s value after 3 years.
  • Up to 50% after 4 years, depending on total kilometres ridden.

This ensures better resale value and reduces the risk for first-time EV buyers.

Extended Comprehensive Warranty

To boost long-term ownership confidence, Ather has launched an Extended Comprehensive Warranty for AtherStack Pro customers, covering:

  • Battery
  • Motor & motor controller
  • Dashboard
  • Charger
  • 11 key components

Coverage period: Up to 5 years or 60,000 km.

Why This Matters for EV Adoption

The BaaS model is designed to make electric two-wheelers more affordable, especially for urban commuters. However, customers must estimate their monthly mileage to ensure the subscription model works out financially.
