Ola Delays Deliveries of S1 Z and Gig Scooters to Focus on Roadster Series
Ola Electric’s most affordable scooters, the Ola S1 Z and Ola Gig, priced at ₹59,999 and ₹39,999 respectively, are facing delivery delays as the company shifts focus towards streamlining operations amid rising competition. Ola is prioritizing the expansion and success of its Roadster electric motorcycle lineup as part of this strategy.
Delivery Delays Announced
During a recent investor meeting, Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder, Chairman, and MD of Ola Electric, confirmed that deliveries of the S1 Z and Gig (including Gig+) models will be postponed. Some upcoming models have also been pushed back, with launches planned for a later time when market conditions are more favorable.
Aggarwal emphasized that the company’s immediate focus is on the Roadster platform, which includes the Roadster, Roadster X, Roadster X Plus, and Roadster Pro electric motorcycles. Additionally, the Ola Arrowhead is slated for launch later this year.

Background on Ola S1 Z and Ola Gig
The Ola Gig was introduced in November last year targeting the B2B segment, while the S1 Z was designed as an affordable EV option for urban commuters. Originally, deliveries for both scooters were scheduled to begin between April and May 2025. However, the timeline has been pushed back indefinitely, with no confirmed new delivery date.
Notably, even deliveries of the Roadster motorcycles experienced delays. Initially planned for March, then April, deliveries officially commenced from May 21. Pricing for the Roadster lineup starts at ₹99,999 for the Roadster X, ₹1.05 lakh for the Roadster, ₹1.30 lakh for the Roadster X Plus, and ₹2 lakh for the top-end Roadster Pro.
Focus on Network Expansion and Service Improvement
In addition to product launches, Ola Electric is investing heavily in expanding its distribution and service network. The company now operates around 4,000 stores and has reportedly reduced service turnaround times to just 1.1 days.
Bhavish Aggarwal shared that Ola is working on increasing production capacity and boosting sales performance, particularly aiming to raise sales per store. These initiatives will continue over the coming quarters, primarily to support the Roadster series’ growth.
Competitive Market Challenges
Ola Electric faces significant challenges in the electric two-wheeler market. As of May 2025, Ola slipped to the third position in electric scooter sales in India, with its market share dropping from 49.2% in May 2024 to just 20%. Currently, TVS Motor leads the segment with a 25% market share, followed by Bajaj at 22.6%.
