Suzuki Rolls Out First Access Electric Scooter – Marks Entry Into EV Market
Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), one of the country’s top scooter manufacturers, has officially entered the electric mobility space. The company has commenced production of its first electric scooter, dubbed the e-Access, at its Gurgaon facility in Haryana. This milestone follows the model’s debut earlier this year at the 2025 Auto Expo, where it was showcased under the name e-Access—also popularly referred to as the Access Electric (unofficially).
Suzuki Enters the Electric Scooter Segment
This production rollout marks Suzuki’s first foray into India’s electric two-wheeler market and underscores its commitment to sustainable mobility solutions through multi-pathway strategies. With the e-Access, Suzuki aims to deliver a reliable, efficient, and eco-friendly commuting option tailored for urban users.
Powertrain and Technology – Built on e-Technology
The Suzuki e-Access is powered by the brand’s proprietary e-Technology, which includes a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack. The company emphasizes the battery’s durability, highlighting its successful performance in extensive tests covering submersion, extreme temperature tolerance, vibration, impact (drop and crush), puncture resistance, and motor bench testing.
Other highlights of Suzuki’s e-Technology include:
- SDMS-e (Suzuki Drive Mode Selector – electric) with multiple riding modes:
- Eco Mode
- Ride Mode A
- Ride Mode B
- Reverse Mode
- Regenerative braking for improved efficiency
- Belt-drive system that is both maintenance-free and designed to reduce noise and vibrations
Design and Features – Stylish Yet Functional
The design of the e-Access builds on the legacy of its ICE counterpart but brings in a sharper, sleeker visual identity. As seen at the 2025 Auto Expo:
- The front apron features a vertically mounted LED DRL with integrated turn indicators lower down.
- Sleek, all-LED headlamps add to the scooter’s modern aesthetic.
- The rear section is more conservative but maintains a premium look.
- Dual-tone color schemes, contrasting seat covers, and premium finishes contribute to its upmarket feel.
Inside, the e-Access is equipped with a full-digital TFT instrument cluster, expected to offer a wide range of connectivity features.
Performance and Specifications
- Estimated range: Up to 95 km on a single charge
- Top speed: 71 km/h
- Motor output: 4.1 kW and 15 Nm of torque
- Wheels: 12-inch units at both front and rear

Launch and Competition
While Suzuki has not confirmed an official launch date, the e-Access is expected to enter showrooms soon. Upon launch, it will compete with several established players in the 125cc-equivalent electric scooter space, including:
- Ather Rizta
- Ola S1
- Honda Activa Electric
- TVS iQube
- Bajaj Chetak
This marks an important chapter for Suzuki in India, signaling its intent to actively participate in the rapidly evolving electric two-wheeler market.
