Should I Buy a Tata Nexon or Mahindra XUV300?

I'm looking to buy a sub-4 meter SUV for mainly city driving in Bangalore, but also occasional highway trips to Chennai. My budget is around ₹10 Lakhs. I'm confused between the Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300. Which one would you recommend?

CarBikeGPT Says: That's a common dilemma, Rohan! Both the Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300 are strong contenders in the sub-4 meter SUV segment, but they cater to slightly different priorities. For primarily city driving, the Nexon's lighter clutch and easier maneuverability will be a boon. The XUV300, while offering a more mature ride, can feel a bit heavier in Bangalore's stop-start traffic.

However, for those highway runs to Chennai, the XUV300 shines. It boasts a more powerful engine (especially the turbo petrol) and feels more stable at higher speeds. The Nexon's engine, while adequate, can feel a little strained when pushed hard on the open road. Also consider the safety aspect. The XUV300 has a 5-star GNCAP rating, giving it a slight edge over the Nexon in terms of perceived safety.

Honestly, if your driving is 70% city and 30% highway, we'd lean towards the Tata Nexon. It offers a great balance of features, fuel efficiency, and value for money. However, if highway driving is a bigger part of your routine, and you prioritize a more powerful engine and a slightly more premium feel, the Mahindra XUV300 is worth the extra investment. Test drive both extensively to see which one fits your needs best! Consider also Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Venue as other alternatives.
