India-Spec Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Unveiled: Up to 543 km Range Confirmed

Maruti Suzuki has just unveiled the India-spec e Vitara, marking its first electric SUV for the country. The car’s been making the rounds overseas for a while, but now it’s finally ready for Indian roads. Production’s already rolling at the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. On the safety front, the e Vitara comes in strong — it picked up a solid 5-star rating for both adult and child protection in the Bharat NCAP tests.

Maruti’s offering two battery choices: 49 kWh and 61 kWh, spread across three trims — Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. The Delta gets the smaller battery and a front-mounted motor that puts out 142 bhp and 192.5 Nm of torque. If you want more punch, the Zeta and Alpha come with the bigger 61 kWh battery, bumping power up to 172 bhp. Maruti claims the larger pack can go up to 543 km on a single charge (ARAI tested). For buyers looking to avoid a hefty upfront payment, there’ll be Battery-as-a-Service and subscription plans too.

Bookings should open soon, and Maruti plans to announce prices in January 2026.

Design-wise, the e Vitara sticks pretty close to the EVX concept. It’s got slim headlamps, Y-shaped DRLs, and chunky body cladding. A connected tail-light design keeps things modern, and the SUV measures 4,275 mm in length with a 5.2-metre turning radius. There’ll be seven monotone and four dual-tone color options to choose from.

Inside, the e Vitara moves things up a notch compared to other Marutis. The dashboard features a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 10.1-inch digital cluster, with physical climate controls and a new two-spoke steering wheel. Higher trims pack in extras like ventilated seats, a 10-way powered driver’s seat, wireless charging, and 19-inch alloys. On the safety side, you get seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.

Once it hits the market, the e Vitara will square off against rivals like the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and Mahindra BE 6. Maruti plans to sell it through Nexa outlets and is working on expanding its charging network as it goes electric.
