KTM 390 Recall Overseas Due to Engine Stalling Issue — India Not Affected

KTM has issued an international recall for select 390 series models after identifying a potential engine stalling issue at low RPMs. The recall has been officially confirmed on KTM’s global website.

However, in a statement to media, Bajaj Auto clarified that models sold in India are not affected by this recall.

What Models Are Included in the Recall?

The recall affects motorcycles powered by KTM’s new-generation 399cc single-cylinder engine. Older models with the 373cc motor are not included.

Models Covered Under Recall (International):

Model
Model Years
KTM 390 Duke
2024–2026
KTM 390 Adventure / Adventure R / Adventure X
2025–2026
KTM 390 Enduro R
2025–2026
KTM 390 SMC R
2025–2026
Husqvarna Svartpilen 401
2024–2026
Husqvarna Vitpilen 401
2024–2026

All recalled units are manufactured in India but exported to global markets.

What’s Causing the Issue?

According to KTM, in rare conditions, the motorcycle may stall at low RPM—particularly during low-speed riding, off-roading, or crawling in traffic.

Motorcycle reviewers previously highlighted this behaviour, especially on more off-road focused models like the 390 Enduro R.

What’s the Fix?

KTM says the solution is not mechanical — no engine parts need replacement.

Instead, affected bikes will receive:

🔧 Updated ECU software
✔ Fixes stalling issue
✔ Improves low-end torque
✔ Enhances overall engine stability

Dealers will flash the new ECU software free of charge.

What About India?

Bajaj Auto confirmed that KTM and Husqvarna models sold in India are not part of this recall.

So if you own a 390 Duke, Adventure, or Husqvarna 401 in India — nothing changes.
