MG’s Beijing Line-up Hints at Its India EV Plans

At the Beijing Auto Show, MG Motor showcased a fresh set of models that could influence its future strategy in India. The highlight was the updated MG4, along with a preview of the upcoming MG 4X and the MG 07. Together, these cars underline MG’s focus on electric mobility, connected tech, and global-ready products.

The 2026 MG4 electric hatchback gets a noticeable refresh. It comes with updated styling, new colour options, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin feels more premium with an 8-inch digital driver display and a larger 15.6-inch touchscreen. Features like wireless Apple CarPlay and front seats with heating, ventilation, and memory functions add to comfort. MG has also improved its driver assistance systems and introduced a semi-solid-state battery, which could enhance efficiency and range.

For India, the MG4 EV is an important model to watch. While there’s no official confirmation yet, it could arrive as a premium electric hatchback and compete with models like the BYD Atto 3 and other mass-market EVs.

Another key reveal was the MG 4X electric SUV, set for a global debut in May 2026. It will feature rear-wheel drive, a semi-solid battery, and a five-link rear suspension. These features could make it a strong contender in the compact electric SUV space, which is expected to grow quickly in India.

The MG 07, on the other hand, focuses on future tech. Available as an EV and plug-in hybrid, it introduces AI-based features and advanced in-car software.

Overall, MG’s Beijing line-up gives a clear hint of what its future in India could look like, especially in the EV space.
