New Bajaj Chetak to Launch on January 14 in India

Bajaj is all set to expand its electric scooter lineup with the new Bajaj Chetak, which is scheduled to launch on January 14. The company has sent out an official invite, giving us the first hint of what to expect, and it points towards a noticeable design refresh.

The teaser image reveals a completely new tail-light design. Unlike the current split LED setup with vertical elements, the upcoming model appears to feature a single horizontal LED tail-light, with indicators positioned at either end and the Chetak branding placed above it. This change suggests Bajaj may be aiming for a cleaner and more modern look, while still retaining the familiar Chetak identity. A refreshed overall design is also expected, although details will be confirmed only at launch.

The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has been one of the strongest performers in India’s growing EV space. In 2025, Bajaj sold just under 2.70 lakh units, giving the Chetak a solid 21 percent share of the e-scooter market. This puts it in direct competition with the TVS iQube, as both models continue to fight for the top spot in monthly sales charts. Despite facing production challenges in mid-2025 due to supply issues related to rare-earth magnets, Bajaj still managed to cross the 2 lakh annual sales milestone for the first time.

Currently, the Chetak range offers 3kWh and 3.5kWh battery options, divided across the 3001 and 35 series. Prices start at Rs 99,500 and go up to Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). The upcoming model is expected to sit at the lower end of the lineup, though it may not be the most affordable Chetak yet.

With a strong market presence and steady demand, the new Bajaj Chetak launch date is keenly awaited, and January 14 should bring more clarity on pricing, features and positioning in the competitive electric scooter market in India.
