Tata Motors has officially laid out its electric vehicle roadmap for 2026, confirming the launch of three new EVs that will significantly expand its presence across mass-market and premium segments. The upcoming models include the Sierra.ev, a refreshed Punch.ev, and Tata’s first premium electric vehicle under the Avinya brand, scheduled to arrive by the end of 2026.
This next phase of expansion builds on Tata’s strong momentum in the EV space. The company has already crossed 2.5 lakh electric vehicle sales in India, with the Tata Nexon EV becoming the country’s first electric car to surpass 1 lakh units sold. Interestingly, Tata says nearly 26 percent of its EV buyers are first-time car owners, highlighting how electric mobility is entering the mainstream.
Sierra.ev and Updated Punch.ev: What’s Coming First
The Sierra.ev will be Tata’s next midsize electric SUV and is expected to debut in the first half of 2026. Visually, it will closely mirror the ICE-powered Sierra, but with EV-specific design elements such as a closed-off front fascia and cleaner aerodynamic detailing. Under the skin, the Sierra.ev is likely to be based on Tata’s acti.ev+ architecture, the same platform that will underpin the upcoming Harrier EV. Reports suggest that both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations could be offered.
The Punch.ev, Tata’s most affordable electric SUV, will also receive a mid-cycle update in 2026. This update is expected to align it with the facelifted ICE Punch, bringing subtle exterior revisions and additional features while retaining its accessible pricing and city-friendly dimensions. With this update, Tata aims to keep the Punch.ev competitive in the fast-growing entry-level EV segment.
Together with existing models such as the Tiago.ev, Tigor.ev, Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev, these launches will give Tata one of the most comprehensive electric portfolios in the Indian market.
Avinya Brand: Tata’s Entry into the Premium EV Space
The biggest highlight of Tata’s 2026 EV strategy is the confirmation of the first Avinya electric vehicle, which will mark the brand’s entry into the premium EV segment. The Avinya range will debut Tata’s Gen 3 born-electric skateboard platform, designed specifically for larger, more advanced electric vehicles.
Positioned above Tata’s current EV lineup, Avinya models are expected to focus on cutting-edge design, longer range, faster charging and next-generation in-cabin technology. The first Avinya EV is slated to arrive by the end of 2026, setting the tone for Tata’s premium electric ambitions.
More EVs Planned Through 2030
Looking beyond 2026, Tata Motors has confirmed plans to introduce three additional electric nameplates between FY2027 and FY2030, taking the total number of new EV launches to five over the next five years. Some of these future models are likely to be part of the expanding Avinya family, helping Tata enter new segments and price brackets.
This product push will be backed by a rapidly growing charging ecosystem. Through the Tata.ev Open Collaboration initiative, the company currently supports around 4,00,000 charging points, including more than 30,000 fast chargers. Tata aims to scale this network to 1 million charging points with 1,00,000 fast chargers by 2030, addressing one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption in India.
The Big Picture
With the Sierra.ev and Punch.ev catering to high-volume segments and Avinya spearheading its premium EV strategy, Tata Motors is positioning itself to maintain leadership in India’s rapidly evolving electric car market. As 2026 approaches, Tata’s EV roadmap signals a clear intent: broader choice, deeper market coverage and a strong push towards the future of electric mobility.
