Yamaha has launched the special 70th Anniversary Editions of the Yamaha R15 and Yamaha R3 in Brazil. These limited-edition motorcycles celebrate Yamaha’s racing heritage and come with a classic white and red colour scheme inspired by the brand’s old Grand Prix race bikes.
The anniversary editions feature Yamaha’s famous “speed block” graphics, which were originally used on the company’s racing motorcycles during the 1970s and 1980s. The new paint scheme combines a white base with red highlights on the fairing, fuel tank, and side panels, giving both bikes a sporty retro-inspired appearance.
Mechanically, both motorcycles remain unchanged compared to their standard versions. The Yamaha R15 continues with its 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 18.8bhp and 14.7Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Yamaha R3 uses a 321cc parallel-twin engine delivering 41bhp and 29.42Nm torque.
The Yamaha R3 received a major global update recently with revised styling and additional features, helping it stay competitive in the entry-level sportbike segment. The R15 is also expected to receive updates internationally and in India in the near future.
At present, these 70th Anniversary Editions are exclusive to the Brazilian market. However, Yamaha enthusiasts in India are hoping the company introduces at least the R15 anniversary edition locally, considering the strong popularity of the motorcycle in the Indian market.
The Yamaha R15 continues to be one of the best-selling entry-level sportbikes in India due to its aggressive styling, sharp handling, and feature-rich package.
