I’m planning to buy a new compact SUV and I’m confused between the Tata Nexon 1.2 turbo-petrol and the Mahindra XUV 3XO 1.2 TGDi. I’ve heard the XUV 3XO petrol gives better real-life mileage than the Nexon. I’m also thinking about the Nexon diesel manual. My monthly running is around 1,000–1,200 km, mostly highway driving. Which SUV makes more sense for me?

CarBikeGPT Says: Since your running is fairly high and mostly on highways, the Tata Nexon diesel MT is the most sensible choice. The diesel engine offers:
Strong low-end torque
Smooth and effortless highway cruising
Real-world fuel efficiency that’s significantly better than both turbo-petrols
With current fuel prices and your yearly usage (around 12,000–14,000 km), the diesel will be more economical in the long run.
