Hero MotoCorp just rolled out the Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition in India, adding some fresh energy to the lineup. It keeps the core design and mechanics of the standard model, but you get a sharper look and a bunch of handy new features that really step up its game. Hero’s clearly aiming to raise the bar in the crowded 160cc roadster scene.
Right away, the upgraded headlight grabs your attention. It’s not a ground-up redesign - actually, it reminds you of the Xtreme 250R’s headlamp - but it does give the front a more aggressive vibe. The new grey-and-yellow paint job also helps it stand out, echoing the Combat Editions of the Xoom 110 and Karizma XMR. It manages to look bold and focused without going overboard.
The real story, though, is in the tech. The Combat Edition introduces ride-by-wire, unlocking cruise control and three riding modes: Rain, Road, and Sport. Just pick the one you need and the bike responds to match. There’s a new color LCD cluster, too, borrowed from the Xtreme 250R, which brings a modern edge to the cockpit.
Hero’s website lists all the features, but they’re still keeping the price under wraps. With these upgrades, the Xtreme 160R becomes the first 160cc bike in India to offer ride-by-wire and cruise control - pretty impressive.
Under the tank sits a 163.2cc, air-oil cooled, 4-valve engine pushing out 16.66 hp at 8,500 rpm and 14.6 Nm at 6,500 rpm. All in all, the Combat Edition packs in more tech and style, making the Xtreme 160R 4V an even tougher rival in its class.
