Lexus Revives LFA Name for Upcoming Electric Supercar

Lexus is bringing back the legendary LFA name, but this time with an electric twist. The new Lexus LFA will be an all-electric supercar, built on the Toyota GR GT platform. While the original LFA was famous for its V10 engine and incredible exhaust note, Lexus is making it clear that the LFA name is no longer tied to combustion engines.

The electric LFA will share the aluminium-intensive chassis with the Toyota GR GT supercar, giving it a strong foundation for performance. Unlike traditional EVs, the LFA may not place its battery pack under the floor, which allows for a sleek, low-slung design. The car will measure 4,690mm long, 2,040mm wide, and just 1,195mm tall, with a 2,725mm wheelbase. This gives it a similar footprint to cars like the Aston Martin DB12 and Bentley Continental GT, but with a distinctly Lexus-style aerodynamic silhouette.

Inside, the cabin is expected to be minimalistic and digital-focused. Lexus is likely to include its race-inspired steering yoke and steer-by-wire technology, similar to the setup in the Lexus RZ. The futuristic interior complements the EV’s forward-looking design, blending luxury with cutting-edge technology.

One of the most exciting possibilities is the use of solid-state batteries. Toyota has hinted that it could introduce solid-state technology in a “high-power” EV within the next two years, and the Lexus LFA seems a perfect candidate. These batteries promise higher power, longer ra nge, and more compact packaging, making them ideal for a high-performance electric supercar.

While Lexus has not announced a specific launch date, the electric LFA shows how the brand is evolving its supercar legacy for the electric era. With its bold design, advanced tech, and potential solid-state battery power, the new LFA could redefine what a luxury EV supercar can be.
