JSW MG Motor India is set to launch the new Majestor SUV in the country tomorrow. The model was first showcased at the Auto Expo last year, and after a long wait, prices will finally be announced. The Majestor will be positioned above the Gloster in MG’s India lineup and is expected to take on the Toyota Fortuner Legender.
Under the bonnet, the MG Majestor will use a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine. This motor produces 213bhp and 478Nm of torque. It will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. MG will also offer a 4x4 system as standard, which should make the SUV suitable for both highway cruising and light off-road driving.
In terms of design, the Majestor gets several updates to set it apart. It features redesigned front and rear bumpers along with updated lighting elements. The grille design is new, and the SUV rides on fresh alloy wheels. Other highlights include faux skid plates, blacked-out pillars, roof rails, and dual exhaust tips. These elements give the Majestor a more rugged and premium look.
Inside the cabin, MG is expected to equip the Majestor with a panoramic sunroof and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV will also offer three-zone climate control and a 360-degree camera. Level 2 ADAS features are likely to be part of the package as well, adding to its safety appeal.
Apart from the Toyota Fortuner Legender, the new Majestor will compete with models like the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron, and Nissan X-Trail. With its strong engine and feature-rich cabin, the Majestor aims to make a solid entry into the full-size SUV segment.
