Kia has taken another step forward in its electric vehicle journey with the official unveiling of the EV2. This is now the brand’s smallest and most affordable EV for the European market, sitting below the EV3 in Kia’s growing electric lineup. Designed for urban use but with enough range for longer trips, the EV2 will be built at Kia’s Zilina plant in Slovakia and offered in standard-range and long-range versions, along with a sportier GT-Line trim.
Despite being the smallest EV from Kia, the EV2 doesn’t look basic. It follows the brand’s familiar design language, borrowing elements from larger Kia EVs. The compact SUV measures 4,060mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,575mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,565mm. The front gets Kia’s tiger nose design along with vertical LED lighting, while the upright stance gives it a confident road presence. Boot space stands at 362 litres, which can be expanded to 403 litres by adjusting the rear seats. There’s also a small 15-litre frunk for storing charging cables.
Inside, Kia has gone with what it calls a “picnic box” inspired layout, focusing on a clean and open cabin feel. The dashboard features two 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment, paired with a 5.3-inch display for climate controls. The EV2 runs on Kia’s ccNC Lite software, allowing over-the-air updates and access to downloadable in-car apps, adding to everyday convenience.
In terms of features, the EV2 is available in Air, Earth and GT-Line trims. The base Air variant includes dual-zone climate control and 16-inch alloy wheels. The Earth trim adds ambient lighting, larger 18-inch wheels and a Harman Kardon sound system. The GT-Line focuses on sportier styling, offering 19-inch wheels, ventilated seats with memory function, Digital Key 2.0 and gloss exterior highlights.
Safety and driver assistance are well covered too. The EV2 comes with advanced ADAS features such as Forward Collision Avoidance, Lane Follow Assist, Blind-Spot View Monitor and Highway Driving Assist 2.0. A notable highlight is the Remote Smart Parking Assist Entry, which allows the car to park itself remotely using the key.
Power comes from two battery options: a 42.2 kWh pack with a claimed range of up to 317 km and a larger 61.0 kWh battery offering up to 448 km. Both support fast charging, making the EV2 a practical option for city-focused electric mobility.
