Yamaha Motor India is gearing up for an exciting 2026 with two electric scooters and an all-new R2 sportbike lined up for launch. After introducing the XSR155 in India last year, the brand is now set to expand its portfolio across both EV and performance motorcycle segments, aiming for a stronger presence in the growing two-wheeler market.
Upcoming Yamaha Two-Wheelers in 2026: Key Highlights
Yamaha R2 sportbike to be made in India
EC-06 electric scooter built on the River Indie platform
Aerox-E EV to be a Yamaha-developed electric scooter
Nmax 155 scooter expected late 2026 or early 2027
Yamaha Electric Scooters Launching in 2026
Yamaha will soon enter India’s electric scooter space with a dual-EV strategy, similar to how other Japanese brands are approaching the EV shift.
1) Yamaha EC-06 (River Indie-based EV)
The EC-06 will be based on the River Indie platform, giving it a local backbone for production and development. It is expected to offer:
4kWh battery
160km claimed IDC range
Production is said to have already started
2) Yamaha Aerox-E (Yamaha-developed EV)
For buyers wanting a sportier and more feature-rich EV, Yamaha is also working on the Aerox-E, a self-developed electric scooter with familiar Aerox-inspired styling. Expected specs include:
3kWh battery
106km claimed IDC range
More features and a more premium positioning than the EC-06
Yamaha Nmax 155: Premium ICE Scooter on the Cards
Alongside EVs, Yamaha hasn’t abandoned petrol-powered scooters. The company is also preparing the Nmax 155 for India, which could launch:
Second half of 2026, or
Early 2027
This scooter is expected to target customers looking for a more powerful and premium automatic scooter than the typical 125cc segment options.
2026 Yamaha R2 Sportbike: The Next Step Up From the R15
The biggest highlight in Yamaha’s 2026 roadmap is the new R2 sportbike, which will sit above the R15 and act as the long-awaited upgrade for enthusiasts.
What to expect from the Yamaha R2:
A new engine likely around 200cc (or slightly higher)
Positioned as a clear performance upgrade over the R15
Expected to retain Yamaha’s strong focus on fuel efficiency
Designed, developed and manufactured in India
Production planned at Yamaha’s Chennai facility
Expected launch timeline: Festive season 2026
With the EC-06, Aerox-E, Nmax 155 and the new R2, Yamaha’s 2026 lineup looks like a mix of electric mobility + sporty performance upgrades—something that should attract both daily commuters and enthusiastic riders.
