VinFast VF7 Gets 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

VinFast’s mid-size electric SUV, the VF7, has received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP, strengthening the brand’s safety credentials in India. The results were announced today, although the crash tests were conducted in November 2025, just two months after the VF7’s prices were revealed.

The 5-star rating is valid for all five variants on sale in India – Earth, Wind, Wind Infinity, Sky and Sky Infinity. The electric SUV has secured top scores in both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP), which is becoming a key decision factor for Indian buyers.

Adult Occupant Protection Results Explained

In the adult occupant protection tests, the VinFast VF7 scored 28.54 points out of a maximum of 32. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the SUV managed 12.54 out of 16 points. Bharat NCAP noted that the driver’s chest protection was rated as weak, while protection for the driver and front passenger’s shins was considered adequate.

However, the VF7 performed strongly in side impact tests. It scored a full 16 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test and was rated as “OK” in the side pole impact test. These results combined helped the VF7 achieve a full 5-star rating for adult occupant protection.

Strong Child Occupant Protection Performance

The VF7’s child occupant protection score is one of its highlights. It scored 45.25 points out of a possible 49, which is slightly higher than rivals like the Tata Harrier EV and Mahindra XEV 9e. The electric SUV achieved a dynamic score of 23.25 out of 24, a perfect 12 out of 12 for child restraint system installation, and 10 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment.

This total score was enough to earn the VF7 a 5-star COP rating, placing it ahead of its competitors by a small margin.

Safety Features on the VinFast VF7

The VinFast VF7 comes well-equipped in terms of safety. It offers seven airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, electronic stability control (ESC), and several other safety features as standard across all variants. This comprehensive safety package plays a big role in its strong crash test performance.

Brand’s Safety Focus Pays Off

VinFast had earlier stated that it was targeting a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating for its electric SUVs, including the VF6 and VF7. With the VF7 now achieving this milestone, the brand has taken a positive step in building confidence among Indian EV buyers who are placing increasing importance on safety.
