Volkswagen ID Polo Revealed as First All-Electric Polo Hatchback

Volkswagen has introduced the ID Polo, bringing an all-electric option to one of its most familiar hatchbacks. Built on the MEB+ platform, this new model marks a clear step toward making electric cars more accessible in the compact segment. Pre-sales are expected to begin in overseas markets by the end of April 2026, with a starting price below €25,000.

The ID Polo follows Volkswagen’s new “Pure Positive” design approach. It gets a clean front with connected LED headlights and an illuminated logo. The overall shape remains compact, but details like strong shoulder lines and flared arches give it a slightly sportier look. At the rear, a full-width LED light bar and a neat spoiler complete the design.

Inside, the focus is on simplicity and usability. A 13-inch touchscreen sits at the centre, supported by a 10-inch digital driver display. Unlike many modern interiors, Volkswagen has retained some physical buttons for key functions, which should make it easier to use while driving. Features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and adaptive cruise control. The boot offers 441 litres of space, which can be expanded by folding the rear seats.

The ID Polo comes with two battery options. The 37kWh version produces up to 135hp and offers a claimed range of 329km. The larger 52kWh battery delivers up to 211hp and a range of 454km. Both versions support fast charging, allowing a 10–80 percent charge in around 25 minutes.

Volkswagen has also confirmed a GTI variant, which is expected to deliver more power and a sportier feel.
