Ducati DesertX Unveiled with New Engine and Chassis

Ducati has unveiled the all-new second-generation DesertX, and this is not just a minor update. The latest version comes with a new engine, revised chassis, updated suspension, and refined styling. While the overall rally-inspired look remains familiar, the motorcycle has been significantly reworked under the skin.

At the core of the new Ducati DesertX is an 890cc, liquid-cooled V-twin engine. It produces around 110bhp and 92Nm of peak torque. Ducati says the focus is on strong mid-range performance, with a large portion of torque available lower in the rev range. This should make the bike easier to manage in off-road conditions. The company has also reduced engine weight and extended valve-clearance service intervals to improve practicality for long-distance riders.

The motorcycle is built around a new aluminium monocoque frame that uses the engine as a stressed member. This setup is designed to improve rigidity while keeping weight in check.

Suspension duties are handled by a fully adjustable long-travel USD fork at the front and a rear monoshock with a link-type mechanism. The DesertX continues with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination. Braking is managed by twin front discs and a rear disc brake.

In terms of features, the bike gets a new TFT display with updated graphics. The electronics package includes multiple riding modes, cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and cruise control.

Ducati is expected to launch the new DesertX in India in the coming months.
