Mahindra has taken another step toward strengthening India’s EV ecosystem by launching its new 180 kW ultra-fast charging network, called Charge_IN. This rollout marks an important move for the brand, especially as more buyers shift towards electric vehicles and look for a reliable fast-charging experience on highways.
The company recently inaugurated the first two 180 kW Mahindra Charge_IN stations on major routes – one on NH55 at Hoskote near Bangalore and another at Murthal on NH44. Both locations can charge up to four EVs at the same time, which should help reduce waiting time for users travelling on busy corridors. With charging speed becoming a major concern for EV owners, a 180 kW charger can make long-distance travel far more practical.
Mahindra says 248 EV charging stations in India under the Charge_IN network will soon be operational across key highways. The plan is to expand this number to more than 1,000 stations by the end of 2027. Most of these stations will be placed near restaurants, cafés and other wayside facilities so that drivers can take a break while their EVs charge.
Speaking about the initiative, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, said that electric mobility is about pushing a broader shift towards cleaner transportation. He added that upcoming models like the XEV 9e and BE 6, which promise around 500 km of real-world range, will help build confidence among customers. Combined with the new ultra-fast charging network, Mahindra aims to make EV road trips as simple and reliable as driving a petrol or diesel car.
With the Charge_IN network expanding and more Mahindra EVs on the way, the company is clearly focusing on making highway travel easier for electric car users in India.
