Maruti Suzuki has confirmed plans to expand capacity at its Gujarat manufacturing facility by July 2026. The plant is currently running at full capacity, and the company is adding a fourth production line to meet rising demand. This move is part of a broader production expansion strategy that also includes the upcoming Kharkhoda facility in Haryana, which is expected to go operational in May.
Together, the Gujarat expansion and the Kharkhoda plant are projected to add up to five lakh units of annual production capacity by the end of the current financial year. This is a significant step for Maruti Suzuki India as it prepares for higher domestic and export volumes.
A key beneficiary of this expansion will be the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. The Gujarat plant serves as the global production hub for the e Vitara, currently producing around 2,000–2,500 units per month. This includes exports as well as supply to Toyota, which will retail the same model under the name Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella.
The e Vitara was recently launched in India at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs. 15.99 lakh. With demand expected to grow in the electric SUV segment, increasing production capacity will help Maruti manage waiting periods and export commitments more effectively.
In addition, Maruti has announced plans to set up a second plant in Gujarat, with operations targeted for FY2029. The new facility will be developed with an investment of Rs. 4,960 crore, further strengthening Gujarat’s role as a major manufacturing base for the company.
