Mercedes-Benz Launches C-Class and E-Class Celebration Editions in India

Mercedes-Benz has turned 140, and the German automaker is marking the occasion in true style. The brand has just launched special Celebration Editions of the C-Class and E-Class in India, and if you've been thinking about buying either of these cars, this might actually be a good time to do it.

Both editions are limited to just 140 units each — which makes sense, given the anniversary. The Mercedes C-Class Celebration Edition is priced at Rs. 62.40 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Mercedes E-Class Celebration Edition comes in at Rs. 82.70 lakh (ex-showroom). That's a relatively small premium over the standard models, which start at Rs. 59.90 lakh and Rs. 80 lakh respectively.

So what do you actually get extra? Mercedes has added a dash camera, rear seat entertainment screens, rear seat cushions, and a special collectible to mark the occasion. Nothing that changes the car mechanically, but it's a decent set of additions for the price jump.

The C-Class continues with its petrol and diesel powertrain options and already packs in things like a 11.9-inch touchscreen, Burmester sound system, 360-degree camera, and heated and cooled front seats — so the base package is already strong.

The E-Class, sold only in long wheelbase form in India, offers even more. You get a larger 14.4-inch infotainment screen, four-zone climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and powered front seats across its E200, E220d, and E450 variants.

Limited editions like these tend to sell out quickly, especially when the premium isn't too steep. If either car was already on your radar, the Celebration Edition gives you a few extra goodies without asking for a lot more money. Worth a look.
