Kia India has officially commenced production of the new-generation Seltos ahead of its price announcement scheduled for 2 January. The SUV is being manufactured at the company’s Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh, and the first unit has already rolled off the production line. This milestone also signals the start of dispatches to dealerships across the country, indicating that Kia is on track for its planned launch timeline.
Bookings for the new Seltos are currently open, with customers required to pay a token amount of Rs. 25,000 to reserve the SUV. While Kia is yet to announce the prices, most of the important details have already been revealed, including the variant line-up, engine options and colour choices.
The new-generation Seltos will be available in a total of 10 variants. These include HTE, HTE (O), HTK, HTK (O), HTX, HTX (A), GTX, X-Line, GTX (A) and X-Line (A). With this broad range, Kia aims to cater to buyers looking for both entry-level options as well as more premium and feature-rich trims.
On the design front, the Seltos retains its familiar SUV stance but comes with updated styling elements that give it a more modern appearance. Kia is also offering a wide selection of exterior colours. Buyers can choose from Frost Blue, Ivory Silver Gloss, Magma Red, Morning Haze, and Morning Haze with an Aurora Black Pearl roof. Other options include Imperial Blue, Aurora Black Pearl, Gravity Gray, Xclusive Matte Graphite, Glacier White Pearl, Pewter Olive, and Glacier White Pearl with an Aurora Black Pearl roof.
Mechanically, the new Seltos continues with the same set of tried-and-tested engines from the outgoing model. The SUV will be offered with three powertrain options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. These engines are known for offering a good balance of performance and fuel efficiency.
With production now underway and bookings already in progress, the new-generation Kia Seltos appears well-prepared for its market launch. The upcoming price announcement will be key in determining how the SUV stacks up against its rivals in the competitive mid-size SUV segment.
