Hyundai is gearing up to refresh its global sub-compact SUV range, and the next-generation Bayon has now been spotted testing overseas. Codenamed BC4, the new Bayon looks set to take a big step forward compared to the current model, both in terms of design and overall presence.
From the spy images, it is clear that Hyundai is moving away from the Bayon’s hatchback-based crossover look. The upcoming version appears larger and more upright, with a boxier shape that gives it a more proper SUV stance. The taller profile and straighter lines suggest a focus on stronger road presence, something buyers in this segment are increasingly looking for.
While official dimensions are not yet available, reports indicate that the new Bayon will feature a longer wheelbase and a wider track. This should result in better cabin space, especially for rear-seat passengers, along with an increase in boot capacity. These changes could help the Bayon appeal to families and long-distance users, rather than just city drivers.
Inside, the next-generation model is expected to receive a noticeable upgrade. A fully digital instrument cluster and a larger touchscreen infotainment system are likely, along with more connected features. Hyundai is also expected to expand the safety package, adding more driver assistance systems to match rivals in the segment.
Interestingly, the new Bayon is being considered for the Indian market as well. If launched here, it could be positioned above the Venue, giving Hyundai another option in the competitive compact SUV space. Hyundai has already been seen testing a new compact SUV in India, though it is still unclear whether it was petrol-powered or electric.
Hyundai has not confirmed launch timelines yet, but a global debut is expected sometime in 2026, with Europe and South Korea likely to be the first markets. More details should emerge as testing continues.
