Nissan Announces Price Hike Starting January 2026

Nissan has announced a price hike across its model range in India starting January 1, 2026. The increase will be up to 3 percent, which means buyers planning to purchase a Nissan car early next year may have to pay a bit more. At present, the Nissan Magnite is the brand’s only offering in the Indian market.

While Nissan has not officially stated the reason behind the price revision, such hikes are usually linked to rising input costs, higher logistics expenses, or changes in exchange rates. Several other carmakers have made similar announcements in recent months, indicating a broader trend across the industry.

For now, the impact of the hike will be felt mainly on the Nissan Magnite. The compact SUV could see a price increase ranging from Rs 17,000 to Rs 32,000, depending on the variant. Currently, the Magnite is priced between Rs 5.62 lakh and Rs 10.76 lakh (ex-showroom). After the revision, prices are expected to start at around Rs 5.79 lakh and go up to approximately Rs 11.08 lakh.

This hike comes not long after Nissan offered significant relief to buyers earlier this year. Following a revision in the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the Magnite received a price cut ranging from Rs 52,000 to Rs 1 lakh, making it one of the most affordable compact SUVs in its segment. Even with the upcoming increase, the Magnite is likely to remain competitively priced compared to rivals.

Alongside the price announcement, Nissan has also outlined its future plans for India. The carmaker aims to introduce three new models by 2027, signalling a renewed focus on the market. The first of these will be the Nissan Gravite, a compact MPV expected to launch by March 2026. Based on the Renault Triber, the Gravite will feature a redesigned exterior and a different interior colour scheme. It is expected to use the same 1.0-litre petrol engine, paired with either a manual or AMT gearbox.

In February 2026, Nissan will unveil the Tekton, a mid-size SUV positioned as a rival to the Hyundai Creta. Built on the CMF-B platform shared with the Renault Duster, the Tekton will also share its petrol engine options. Looking further ahead, Nissan has confirmed a seven-seater SUV for 2027, likely based on the same platform and related to the Renault Bigster sold overseas.

Overall, Nissan’s price hike aligns with similar moves by brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BYD and MG, all of which have cited rising costs as a key factor.
