Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella revealed in India

Toyota has officially revealed its first electric vehicle for India, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, marking a key step for the brand in the EV space. The new electric SUV is a badge-engineered sibling of the Maruti e Vitara and will compete in the midsize electric SUV segment against rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, and VinFast VF6. Bookings for the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV have opened today across Toyota dealerships in India.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV is offered with two battery options – a 49kWh and a 61kWh LFP battery pack. The smaller battery delivers 144hp and 189Nm of torque with a claimed ARAI range of 440km, while the larger 61kWh unit produces 174hp and the same torque figure, offering an impressive 543km range on a single charge. Both versions are front-wheel drive. Toyota will sell the Urban Cruiser Ebella in three trims – E1, E2, and E3 – with the E1 paired only with the smaller battery, and E2/E3 getting the larger unit.

Here’s a clear look at the key specifications of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella:

In terms of design, the Urban Cruiser Ebella EV carries subtle Toyota-specific touches. It gets sleek segmented LED DRLs and triangular headlights connected by a black trim piece, along with a clean front bumper that includes vertical air vents. The SUV rides on 18-inch aero-optimised wheels and has generous body cladding. Toyota offers multiple monotone and dual-tone colour options for the Urban Cruiser Ebella EV.

Inside, the cabin closely mirrors that of the Maruti e Vitara but feels modern and well-equipped. There’s a 10.1-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, ventilated seats, 12-colour ambient lighting, and a JBL sound system. Higher variants add features like a powered driver’s seat, sunroof, 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.

Safety remains a priority, with 7 airbags and disc brakes on all wheels standard across the range. Toyota is offering an 8-year battery warranty along with EV-focused service support and ownership programs, making the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV a strong contender in the growing electric SUV space in India.
