Toyota has officially revealed its first electric vehicle for India, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, marking a key step for the brand in the EV space. The new electric SUV is a badge-engineered sibling of the Maruti e Vitara and will compete in the midsize electric SUV segment against rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, and VinFast VF6. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV is offered with two battery options – a 49kWh and a 61kWh LFP battery pack. The smaller battery delivers 144hp and 189Nm of torque with a claimed ARAI range of 440km, while the larger 61kWh unit produces 174hp and the same torque figure, offering an impressive 543km range on a single charge. Both versions are front-wheel drive. Toyota will sell the Urban Cruiser Ebella in three trims – E1, E2, and E3 – with the E1 paired only with the smaller battery, and E2/E3 getting the larger unit.
