Bentley Motors has officially started pre-production of its first-ever electric vehicle, marking a major step in the brand’s journey towards electrification. The new model, which Bentley describes as a “Luxury Urban SUV,” will open a completely new segment for the company. Although the name is yet to be revealed, the SUV is set for a global debut in late 2026, with customer deliveries expected in 2027.
Designed, developed, and built at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, United Kingdom, the upcoming electric SUV promises to uphold the brand’s signature craftsmanship and performance. At under five metres in length, it aims to deliver the comfort and refinement expected from Bentley while offering cutting-edge electric technology. One of its standout features is ultra-fast charging – the SUV can add up to 100 miles of range in just seven minutes.
This model is a part of Bentley’s Beyond100+ strategy, which focuses on moving towards a sustainable and electric future. However, the company has confirmed a shift in its timeline for becoming a fully electric brand. The previous goal of going all-electric by 2035 will now be extended, as Bentley continues to cater to the rising demand for plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models.
Speaking on the development, Bentley’s Chairman and CEO, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, noted that while the brand remains committed to electrification, internal combustion and hybrid powertrains will continue to play a role in the near term.
With this pre-production milestone, Bentley’s upcoming electric SUV signals a bold new era for the brand – blending timeless luxury with modern sustainability and performance.
