Hero MotoCorp is making significant strides in the electric vehicle sector with the introduction of the NEX 3, a compact two-seater micro-EV targeting city commuters. Unveiled at EICMA 2025 in Milan, the NEX 3 marks a notable expansion for Hero under its new Vida Novus range, signaling the company’s intention to move beyond traditional scooters and motorcycles.
Unlike previous small city cars like the Tata Nano or MG Comet, the NEX 3 isn’t positioned as a premium mini vehicle. Instead, Hero emphasizes practicality, combining the protection of an enclosed cabin with the agility of a two-wheeler, making it well-suited for congested urban environments.
The interior features a tandem seating arrangement, with one seat placed behind the other. This slim design allows the vehicle to navigate through heavy traffic, access narrow lanes, and park in tight spaces with ease. Being fully enclosed, it offers better protection from weather conditions such as rain, dust, and heat—an advantage over conventional scooters.
The NEX 3 is part of the broader Vida Novus lineup presented by Hero. This collection also includes the NEX 1, a portable micro-mobility device; the NEX 2, a lightweight electric trike for short-distance travel; and two electric motorcycle concepts – the Vida Concept Ubex, intended as a global EV platform, and the Vida Project VxZ, developed in collaboration with US-based Zero Motorcycles. Additionally, Hero announced the Vida DIRT.E series, a new range of off-road electric bikes.
Looking ahead, Hero plans to launch the VIDA VX2 electric scooter in Europe, marking an effort to establish its presence beyond the Indian market.
With the NEX 3 and the wider Vida Novus collection, Hero MotoCorp is demonstrating a commitment to compact, sustainable mobility solutions tailored for city life. While full details on pricing, specifications, and launch timelines remain under wraps, the company’s direction underscores a shift in urban transportation, with Hero aiming to play a leading role in the evolving landscape of electric vehicles.
