Kia’s Second-Gen Seltos SUV Gets a Global Reveal Date

Kia gearing up to pull the wraps off the second-generation Seltos this December. That’s the global debut. For India, the launch is coming a bit later-early 2026. This new model will finally replace the current Seltos, which has been around since 2019 and turned into one of Kia’s best-sellers. This isn’t some mild update, either. We’re talking about a fresh platform, a bold new look, and, for the first time, a strong-hybrid option. It’s a big leap forward for the Seltos.

What’s New This Time Around

From the early design sketches and those camouflaged test cars spotted out on the roads, it’s clear Kia pushing for a tougher, more upright stance. The new Seltos looks a bit bigger than before-so you can expect a roomier cabin and a bigger boot. Exact measurements are still under wraps, but everything points toward a wider interior and more legroom in the back. The design itself falls in line with Kia’s latest style: slimmer LED lights, a meaner-looking grille, and fresh bumpers.

Step inside, and things look even more upmarket. Kia’s going with cleaner lines and better materials, plus a big new curved display that combines the digital cluster and infotainment. You’ll see improvements in connectivity, less road noise, and an upgrade in safety tech. Features like advanced driver-assistance, which are currently limited to the top trims, should become more widely available.

The Hybrid Buzz

Here’s what everyone’s talking about: the strong-hybrid version. Kia’s likely to keep the current 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, but now they’re adding a full-hybrid that mixes a petrol engine with an electric motor. That means better fuel efficiency and a spot among the few hybrid SUVs in its segment. It also helps Kia bridge the gap between their regular gas engines and future electric models.

When the hybrid lands, it’ll give buyers a real alternative to the Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Grand Vitara hybrids, both of which have been grabbing attention lately. For city folks, a hybrid Seltos means better mileage without the hassle of charging or range anxiety. And if you still prefer petrol or diesel, those options aren’t going anywhere.

Price and Positioning

A bigger body and a hybrid system will nudge prices higher at the top end, no question. The current Seltos starts at about ₹12 lakh and tops out near ₹20 lakh. With all the new tech and safety kit, expect the next-gen model to stretch past that, moving closer to the likes of the MG Hector. The hybrid versions could even overlap with entry-level five-seat SUVs that are a size up.

Still, Kia knows its reputation for value matters. So, they’ll probably keep an affordable petrol entry model, while pushing higher trims upmarket with richer interiors and hybrid tech. That way, they can keep both value-minded and feature-hungry buyers interested.

Looking Ahead

The new Seltos is way more than a facelift. Kia’s making sure it stays relevant as buyer tastes shift. You get a bigger, comfier cabin, a smoother drive, and-if the hybrid comes through-a serious bump in fuel efficiency.

If you’re thinking about buying, timing is everything. The current Seltos will stick around through 2025, likely with some special editions and discounts while Kia clears out inventory. The new one hits in 2026, and it’s set to kick off Kia’s next chapter in India-mixing technology, efficiency, and sharp design for a crowded SUV market.

Bottom line: the second-gen Seltos is going bigger, getting smarter, and moving upmarket, but it’s not leaving its roots behind. Kia’s making sure their most popular SUV keeps up with the times and stays competitive for years to come.
