Citroën C3 Sport Edition Coming Soon: A Sportier Spin on the Popular Hatchback
Citroën India is gearing up to introduce a new variant of its popular C3 hatchback – the C3 Sport Edition. Expected to launch in the coming weeks, the Sport Edition aims to inject a dose of excitement into the C3 lineup with cosmetic enhancements, sporty design elements, and possibly a few feature upgrades to appeal to young urban buyers.
What to Expect from the C3 Sport Edition
While Citroën hasn’t officially revealed all the details yet, teaser images and dealer-level information suggest that the Sport Edition will feature several visual upgrades, including:
- New dual-tone exterior paint schemes
- Sporty decals and red accents on the front grille, ORVMs, and body side cladding
- Black alloy wheels or wheel covers with a new design
- Interior tweaks such as contrast stitching, red accents on the dashboard, and a new seat fabric pattern
Citroën is likely to offer the Sport Edition on both the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (82 hp) and the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (110 hp), paired with 5-speed and 6-speed manual gearboxes respectively. There’s no confirmation yet on whether the Sport Edition will get an automatic transmission option.
Positioning and Pricing
The C3 Sport Edition is expected to be priced at a slight premium over the regular Feel and Shine variants, with an estimated ex-showroom price starting around ₹7.10 lakh. It will compete with other sporty hatchback editions like the Tata Tiago Camo, Maruti Suzuki Swift Sport trims, and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Corporate Edition.
Why It Matters
The Citroën C3 has steadily carved a niche for itself with its SUV-inspired styling, spacious cabin, and peppy performance. However, it has also faced criticism for lacking some key features like a rear wiper and automatic climate control. With the Sport Edition, Citroën aims to boost the model’s appeal among young, style-conscious buyers who want a more expressive and fun-looking car.
Launch Timeline
Sources suggest that the launch will happen before the end of June 2025, with bookings likely to open soon. Citroën may also bundle limited-time offers or accessory packages to sweeten the deal for early buyers.
