Honda Super-ONE Compact EV Revealed – The Small Electric Hatch We Wish Would Come to India

Honda has taken the wraps off its new compact electric hatchback – the Super-ONE – at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. This little EV, which made its first appearance as a concept at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, is now close to production and ready to hit the roads soon.

The Super-ONE will first go on sale in Japan, followed by a few Asian and Oceania markets. It’s also expected to make its way to the UK, where it will likely wear the “Super-N” badge. Sadly, there’s no word on an India launch yet – and that’s a bit of a disappointment for anyone who loves small, practical city cars.

Design and Exterior

The Super-ONE follows a tall-boy hatchback design, giving it a roomy look despite its compact size. The stance is low and wide, complemented by flared wheel arches and stylish black eight-spoke alloy wheels placed at the corners for better stability and space efficiency.

Up front, it sports round LED headlamps framing a clean central panel with the charging port neatly integrated. You’ll also find the familiar Honda “H” badge instead of the new 0 Series logo, and subtle vertical air ducts in the bumpers for cooling and aerodynamic efficiency.

Interior and Features

Inside, Honda has kept things simple and functional. The dashboard runs horizontally across the cabin, featuring slim air vents, a touchscreen infotainment system, and a digital instrument cluster. The mix of touch and physical controls – including knobs for commonly used functions – should make it easy to live with. A two-spoke steering wheel, sporty seats, and blue interior accents add a touch of flair to the otherwise minimalist setup.

Performance and Tech

The Super-ONE fits neatly into Japan’s Kei-car category, which means it measures under 3.4 metres in length. While Honda hasn’t shared details about its battery capacity, motor output, or driving range yet, the car does feature a Boost Mode for extra power and even a simulated seven-speed gearbox. There’s also a virtual engine sound, designed to give drivers a bit more excitement behind the wheel.

Final Thoughts

Positioned below Honda’s upcoming 0 Series lineup, the Super-ONE aims to be an affordable, stylish city EV that’s practical, fun, and aimed at younger urban buyers. With compact EVs gaining popularity across global markets, this feels like the right car at the right time.
