Mahindra Vision S, X, T Production to Start in 2027

Mahindra has confirmed that production of its Vision S, Vision X and Vision T-based SUVs will begin in 2027. The concepts were first unveiled on 15 August 2025 and are built on the company’s new NU_IQ platform. While the production models are likely to carry different names, they will be based on these Vision concepts.

To begin with, the Vision X and Vision T derivatives will be manufactured at Mahindra’s Chakan plant from 2027. At a later stage, production of these models will shift to the company’s newly developed Nagpur facility. The Vision S-based SUV, however, will go into production directly at the Nagpur plant. There is still no official information about the production plans for the Vision SXT.

The Nagpur facility is an important part of Mahindra’s expansion strategy. Spread over 1,500 acres and developed with an investment of Rs. 15,000 crore, the plant has been designed to support both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicles. It will produce future-ready models based on the NU_IQ platform. According to Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra, the new facility will help reduce production bottlenecks and support rising demand.

The company also shared that SUVs longer than four metres account for around 60 per cent of its total sales demand, while sub-four-metre SUVs make up the remaining 40 per cent.

In addition, Mahindra plans to increase production capacity for high-demand models such as the electric XUV700, known as the XEV 9S. Production could be raised by 3,000 to 5,000 units with support from the Chakan and Nashik plants. From 2028 onwards, Mahindra will also begin rolling out left-hand-drive models for global markets.
