Mahindra’s getting ready to launch its new electric SUV, the XEV 9S, on November 27. You might’ve heard it called the XEV 7e before, but now it’s officially the XEV 9S. This one’s a big deal for Mahindra it’s their first 7-seater electric SUV, set to sit above the XEV 9e in their expanding EV lineup.
The XEV 9S rides on Mahindra’s INGLO platform the same one underneath the XEV 9e. This platform is built for electric vehicles from the ground up. It’s flexible, efficient, and can handle larger battery packs. With three rows of seats, the XEV 9S stands out as one of the rare full-electric family SUVs in India.
Design-wise, the XEV 9S is expected to take a lot from the XEV 9e. Spy photos show off a bold, futuristic style L-shaped LED daytime running lights, a full-width LED light bar across the front, and vertically stacked headlamps. The side view? Probably flush door handles and aero-friendly alloy wheels, which should help both the look and the efficiency.
Step inside, and you’ll probably find a premium touch, just like in the XEV 9e. There’s talk of a triple-screen dashboard – one for the driver, one for infotainment, and another for the front passenger. High-quality materials, loads of connected features, and advanced driver assistance systems are all on the cards.
When it comes to power, Mahindra hasn’t shared the full specs yet, but reports say the XEV 9S will likely use the same setup as the XEV 9e and the BE 6. Expect two battery options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh. Power output should hit 231 PS or 286 PS, depending on the pack, with 380 Nm of torque. Range? Mahindra claims anywhere from 542 km up to 656 km on a single charge, depending on the configuration.
So, with its roomy interior, solid electric performance, and practical features, the XEV 9S looks like it’s going to shake up India’s electric SUV scene. Once it breaks cover on November 27, we’ll finally see if it lives up to the hype and if it becomes one of Mahindra’s flagship EVs.
