Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Launch: What to Expect from the Brand’s First Electric SUV

​Maruti Suzuki has officially entered the electric SUV space with the launch of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, its first global electric SUV. For a brand known mainly for petrol and CNG cars, this is a major step forward and an important moment for India’s EV market. Production has already begun at the Gujarat plant, marking the start of Maruti’s long-term electric vehicle roadmap.

Built on the new 40PL skateboard EV platform co-developed with Toyota, the e Vitara offers better cabin space, a low centre of gravity and improved overall stability. The SUV measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,640 mm in height, placing it firmly in the mid-size electric SUV segment.

On the outside, the e Vitara carries a clean, modern look with tri-slash LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels and a charging port positioned on the front fender. Buyers will be able to choose from 10 colour options, including four dual-tone combinations.

The SUV comes with two battery pack choices - 49 kWh and 61 kWh - paired with three power outputs:

1) 144 bhp (2WD)

2) 171 bhp (2WD)

3) 181 bhp (AWD) with a dual-motor setup

The top variant also features the ALLGRIP-e electric AWD system, offering better traction on rough or slippery surfaces.

Inside, the cabin feels premium with a dual-screen layout, floating centre console and flexible second-row seating. Features such as wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, ventilated seats, a powered driver seat, Harman audio system and Suzuki Connect add to its appeal. Safety is also a highlight, with 7 airbags, Level-2 ADAS, TPMS and a 360-degree camera.
