Mercedes-Benz India has officially unveiled the new CLA Electric, positioning it as the brand’s most affordable EV in the country. Bookings for the new model will begin on 10 March. The CLA will be offered exclusively as an electric vehicle and is based on Mercedes’ new-generation modular electric architecture.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ is the sole variant confirmed for India. It is powered by an 85.5kWh battery pack paired with a rear-mounted electric motor producing 268bhp. The sedan can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 6.7 seconds. Mercedes claims a WLTP-certified range of up to 792km, making it one of the longest-range EV sedans in its segment. It also features a two-speed transmission designed to balance efficiency and performance.
In terms of design, the new CLA retains its coupe-style silhouette with a sloping roofline and frameless doors. The front grille gets 142 illuminated star elements, along with connected LED DRLs and LED headlamps. The car measures 4.7 metres in length and has a wheelbase of 2,790mm. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin features a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system running the latest Mercedes operating system, along with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The system supports integrated AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Microsoft Bing. Other highlights include powered front seats with heating and massage functions, a fixed glass roof, ambient lighting, and AMG-specific upholstery. Boot space stands at 405 litres, with an additional 101-litre frunk.
