Volkswagen made headlines at the 2025 Munich Motor Show by showcasing three new EVs – the ID. Polo, ID. Polo GTI, and the all-new ID. Cross Concept. While the Polo twins grabbed attention, the ID. Cross Concept stood out as a potential game-changer with strong sales potential. Industry insiders suggest it could evolve into a production-ready T-Cross EV as early as next year.
Dimensions and Practicality
The VW ID. Cross Concept measures 4,161 mm in length, nearly identical to the T-Cross (4,127 mm). It also features a 2,601 mm wheelbase, close to that of the ID. Polo. Practicality is a highlight, with a 490-litre rear boot complemented by a 25-litre front trunk (frunk), making it highly versatile for urban and family use.
Exterior Design – Futuristic Yet Familiar
Staying true to the VW ID family design language, the ID. Cross adds futuristic styling details:
- Flat bonnet with a connecting LED DRL light bar
- Illuminated VW logo and bumper highlights
- Radar housing for ADAS features
- Prominent C-pillar lighting elements
- Rugged body cladding
- Large 21-inch alloy wheels
- Sleek connected LED tail lamps
Interior – Vanilla Chai Theme
Inside, the ID. Cross Concept takes inspiration from the ID.2all Concept, which previewed the ID. Polo. The cabin features:
- 13-inch free-standing infotainment display with physical controls
- Floating centre console design
- 11-inch TFT digital instrument cluster
- Double D-cut 2-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons
- Ambient lighting and a “Vanilla Chai” interior theme (a soothing pink-beige shade)

Powertrain and Range
While Volkswagen has not disclosed the battery details, the ID. Cross is expected to share its electric drivetrain with the ID. Polo. Key highlights include:
- Single front-mounted electric motor producing ~208 bhp
- Expected driving range of 420 km on a single charge
- Target starting price: €25,000 (approx. ₹25.8 lakh)
Outlook
With its practical dimensions, futuristic design, spacious cabin, and competitive pricing, the Volkswagen ID. Cross Concept has the potential to become one of VW’s most popular EVs globally. If launched as the T-Cross EV, it will strengthen VW’s position in the fast-growing compact electric SUV segment.
