Renault is ready to reintroduce the Duster in the Indian market with its third-generation model, scheduled to launch on March 17, 2026. The SUV was discontinued in 2022, and its return marks an important step for the brand as it looks to strengthen its presence in the midsize SUV segment again. The India-spec version was unveiled earlier this year, showcasing major upgrades in styling, technology, and powertrain options.
Engine and Powertrain Options
At launch, the new Duster will come with two turbo-petrol engine choices. The first is a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing around 100hp, while the second is a more powerful 1.3-litre turbo-petrol unit delivering about 163hp. Both engines will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, and the 1.3-litre engine will also get a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic option.
Renault also plans to introduce a 1.8-litre strong-hybrid petrol powertrain later in 2026, likely around the festive season. This setup combines a petrol engine with an electric motor and hybrid starter generator, producing a combined output of around 160hp with improved fuel efficiency.
Exterior Design Updates
The new model keeps the rugged stance that the Duster is known for but adds more modern styling elements. The front features LED daytime running lamps that also function as turn indicators, a bold grille with Duster lettering, and redesigned bumpers. The side profile gets black cladding, roof rails, and large alloy wheels, while the rear includes connected LED tail-lamps and a roof-mounted spoiler. With 212mm ground clearance, it continues to focus on practicality and rough-road capability.
Interior and Features
Inside, the cabin has been redesigned with a more premium look and better materials. It gets a dual-screen layout with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control, powered and ventilated front seats, and a powered tailgate.
Safety features include six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic parking brake, and Level 2 ADAS technology.
