Tata Motors April 2025 Car Sales Breakdown: Nexon Leads Despite Overall Decline

Tata Motors reported total passenger vehicle sales of 45,199 units in April 2025, reflecting a 5.61% decline compared to 47,885 units sold in April 2024.

Strong Growth for Nexon, Decline for Punch

The Nexon and Nexon EV stood out with a robust 38.4% year-on-year growth, selling 15,457 units in April 2025, up from 11,168 units last year. This strong performance highlights the Nexon’s continued popularity in the compact SUV segment.

In contrast, the Punch and Punch EV faced a significant drop, with sales plunging 34.77% to 12,496 units from 19,158 units the previous year, marking a volume decline of over 6,600 units despite Punch’s status as one of India’s top-selling SUVs.

Steady Performance from Tiago and Curvv; Sharp Drop for Altroz

The Tiago and Tiago EV maintained a steady upward trend, increasing sales by 21.79% to 8,277 units, compared to 6,796 units in April 2024. Meanwhile, the Curvv posted sales of 3,149 units.

The Altroz, however, experienced a sharp decline of 57.81%, with just 2,172 units sold against 5,148 units last April. The upcoming facelift, set to launch on 22nd May, is expected to boost these numbers in the coming months.

SUV Segment Sees Mixed Results

Among Tata’s flagship SUVs, the Safari recorded a 21.91% drop with 1,340 units sold, while the Harrier saw a steeper decline of 42.04%, selling only 1,012 units. The Tigor and Tigor EV also faced a downturn, with sales falling 39.80% to 1,296 units from 2,153 units a year ago.


Month-on-Month (MoM) Sales Comparison

Comparing April 2025 with March 2025, Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle sales dropped by 12.43%, from 51,616 units to 45,199 units.

  • The Nexon declined slightly by 5.55%, from 16,366 units in March to 15,457 units.
  • The Punch took a significant hit, falling 29.46% to 12,496 units from 17,714 units.
  • The Tiago bucked the trend, growing 4.17% from 7,946 units to 8,277 units.
  • The Altroz jumped 31% month-on-month to 2,172 units, fueled by anticipation ahead of its facelift launch.
  • Curvv sales slipped by 16.80%, from 3,785 units in March to 3,149 units in April.
  • Safari saw a slight decline of 5.30%, selling 1,340 units.
  • The Harrier dropped 20% to 1,012 units.
  • The Tigor also declined by 11.66%, from 1,467 units in March to 1,296 units.

Despite the overall decline in April, Tata Motors remains well positioned with a strong portfolio and upcoming product refreshes expected to boost sales momentum in the near future.
