BYD has unveiled its smallest electric car, the Atto 1, at the 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show. Positioned as an entry-level EV, the hatchback is priced from THB 4,29,900 (around Rs. 12.29 lakh), going up to THB 4,59,900 (approximately Rs. 13.15 lakh) for the top-spec Premium variant.
On the outside, the Atto 1 keeps things simple yet modern. It features a closed grille, sleek air vents, and retro-style door handles that give it a distinct look. Other highlights include 16-inch alloy wheels, a front-mounted charging port, connected tail lamps, a shark-fin antenna, and a subtle roof spoiler.
Inside, the cabin feels well-equipped for its segment. It gets a seven-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity. There’s also an NFC key, wireless charging, a six-way powered driver’s seat, and a tilt and telescopic steering wheel. Safety and convenience are covered with disc brakes on all four wheels, a rear-view camera, and three radars.
Powering the Atto 1 is a 38.88kWh Blade LFP battery paired with a 74bhp/135Nm motor. The claimed driving range stands at 380km (NEDC), with support for 40kW DC fast charging and 2.2kW V2L function.
If launched in India, the Atto 1 will rival the Tata Punch EV. While the Tata offers more power and features, BYD could attract buyers with its blade battery tech and features like a powered tailgate.
